As Polar Ice Turns to Water, Dreams of Treasure Abound - New York Times

As Polar Ice Turns to Water, Dreams of Treasure Abound - New York Times
Can we stop ourselves from plundering Mother Nature? For want of a little gain, we are going to risk losing one of the last vestiges of untouched territories. Yes developing a port and getting new shipping routes(yes, they are much shorter) will be nice. But at what cost? Will the migratory routes of the humpback whales be respected? Also one Canadian official calls this the "positive side of global warming, if there is a postive one". Positive side? As if the recent disasters are not enough to point out that we have blinders on and are totally ignoring what nature is telling us. We have been reckless in the past and from the signs of it, we will continue to be so , to benefit from monetary gain!
