Happy Diwali

Diwali Lantern

Exposure:1/30|Aperture:f/5.6|Focal Length:50 mm|ISO Speed: 800

This year I decided to spend Diwali with my parents in India. We decided to head into the mountains and spend a quiet diwali away from the madness brought on by loud firecrackers.
It's a festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. There are many stories that explain Diwali depending on where in India you hail from but the premise of good over evil still reigns.

What I love about the festivals is how we light up our world with diyas (small oil based lamps) or lanterns. We also get to gorge on a lot of sweets and savoury snacks. All in all a great time to bond with family and spend some quality time.

I leave you with these row of lanterns, which I found to be apt for this occasion.
